Spring Brook Farm

Pocopson

SITED ON A 17-ACRE FARM, this classic Chester County red bank barn was built for children with disabilities to interact and care for animals on the farm. The new barn is based on old photos of the original bank barn lost to fire in the 1950’s. In the lower level of the barn, animals are housed in wide stalls that allow wheelchair entry, while an indoor ramp gives access to the loft. Latches are low so children can reach them; halters and feed buckets are color-coordinated so even the youngest child can feed the animals. The owner provides a caring environment for the children to enjoy the animals while gaining knowledge, confidence, and self-esteem
