Speakman Hill Farm

Unionville

A CLOSE STUDY of 18th c. masonry house and bank barn precedents of Southern Chester County were the genesis of this 2007 farm. Sited above the Speakman Bridge on the Doe Run Creek, the house and barn create a farm compound protected from northern exposure and catching southern sun. The house maintains a very small footprint by using four floors to accommodate all desired functions and each level is served by the discrete elevator. As in the 18th c. brick house examples, the date is laid monumentally in clinker bricks in the gable end.
