Merion Residence
Merion Station
DESIRING A HOME to provide a lifetime of enjoyment for family and relatives, our clients approached us with a request to design a home traditional in appearance, but with modern technologies and conveniences. To instill integrity in both the building design and in construction to produce a home that would fit well in the context of the neighborhood, timeless and lasting materials such as limestone, slate, mica schist building stone and copper were selected. As a result, the home will age gracefully and, in time, will become historically indistinguishable from the adjacent homes.
Formally, the plan of the house is based on the idea of arrival, entry, axial relationships through the house, and the separation of public and private spaces. Practically, the arrangement and location of rooms is based on desired relationships between rooms, ease of circulation, connection to the outdoors, and the desire for natural light.
