Mercer Hill Garage

BUILT TO FULFILL A VARIETY OF NEEDS, this garage houses one daily-driven and two antique cars in a simple space made of timber and white-washed masonry that serves as a back drop for “Man Cave” collections deemed unsuitable by the lady of the house for display in the main residence. A wood stove and two dozen chairs hung Shaker style on the wall invite raucous kids’ parties, cigars after dinner or a fair-weather community meeting with the doors open. The farther third of the building houses the family’s herd of goats as well as a hayloft tucked beneath the clay tile roof.
