Fourth Hole Farm Barn

Chestnut Hill

X

LOCATED ALONGSIDE the Sunnybrook Golf Course in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill, the old, overgrown farm included two structures in a state of deterioration. The existing farm house was carefully dismantled and materials salvaged for the adaptation of the existing bank barn into a pool house, guest house, gym and extended family party barn.   Additional timbers, flooring and siding were reclaimed from barns throughout Pennsylvania. Mechanical and audio/visual components hidden within the timbers provide a high-tech entertainment space while maintaining the visual character of the original barn. An 8,000 SF family home was built adjacent to the barn, taking material and visual cues from the original structures but asserting a more formal architecture in contrast.
