Historic Painter Barn Receives 2018 WoodWorks Wood Design Award
February 19, 2018
ARCHER & BUCHANAN is pleased to receive a 2018 WoodWorks Wood Design Award for Durable & Adaptable Wood Structures for our restoration and adaptive reuse project at the Painter Barn at Tyler Arboretum in Media, Pennsylvania. The awards celebrate excellence in wood buildings across the U.S. — and the designers behind them.
Wanting to secure the longevity and continued purposefulness of the Painter Barn, which has been in service for nearly 200 years, Tyler Arboretum set out to integrate the building into the educational, cultural and social activities of the organization and increase its usability as a public venue. The Painter Barn, because of the efforts of this singular rehabilitation and reuse project, will continue as an accessible, safe and productive setting, and uphold its status as an important and iconic landmark within the historic fabric of Tyler Arboretum.
