“Epic Cat-a-Tects” FIRST LEGO League Team Visits Archer & Buchanan

In fall of 2019, five local 4th graders visited the West Chester office of Archer & Buchanan to meet with Architectural Designer Suzanne Amrich and discuss their LEGO Robotics team project. The five, who named their design team “Epic Cat-a-Tects”, elected to design and build a hotel and sushi restaurant in Tokyo as their entry to a FIRST LEGO League competition. In addition to taking into consideration accessibility, sustainability, and durability, the team also needed to address that their creation is in an earthquake zone. Suzanne prepared information on hotel and restaurant layouts and design in earthquake zones to share with the students who she described as “super sharp! I truly enjoyed meeting with them to learn about their project and to provide some additional information for them to contemplate.”

The exercise paid off, with the Epic Cat-a-Tects earning the Exploration and Discover trophy in their local competition. Congrats to the Epic Cat-a-Tects!
