Originally from Austria, the owners would have preferred to live in a glass and steel cube, but in favor of the suburban Philadelphia community and surrounding architecture, they chose to marry the two. The design of the new residence couples a European polished interior with a ‘sleeper’ American exterior.
Clobbered with painted cedar siding and a cedar shake roof, the exterior evokes the neighborhood tradition. Important to the heart of the home was a large kitchen, family and mudroom that support the active lifestyle of the growing family and their regular gatherings of relatives and friends.
Contemporary light-filled spaces complement clean and simple traditional details of the interior.
